Dr. Konkon Mitra, a third-generation doctor and the earliest clinical embryologist of the country, was born in Kolkata and raised in Jharkhand’s Bokaro city. Dr Mitra pursued her schooling at St. Xavier’s School in Bokaro and college from JNMC, Belgaun, Karnataka. Dr. Mitra then pursued specialized studies in Clinical Embryology obtaining training from Singapore under the mentorship of Arif Bongso.

Throughout her career, Dr. Mitra has demonstrated exceptional patient counselling skills, ensuring that individuals and couples undergoing fertility treatments understand their options and feel supported throughout the process.

Beyond her professional endeavours, Dr. Mitra finds solace in walking and trekking which not only serve as hobbies but also as means to maintain a balanced lifestyle amidst her demanding profession.

Dr. Mitra’s journey with Abha Surgy Centre began with a vision to offer cutting-edge fertility treatments. Starting with a team of only 5 members, the centre has now expanded to over 120 dedicated professionals. Currently, Abha Surgy Centre consistently handles a high volume of cycles each month, meeting the increasing demand for assisted reproductive technologies. Dr. Mitra’s leadership has enabled the establishment of a full-fledged ART Bank, further enhancing the centre’s capabilities. Dr. Mitra’s aspiration is to develop a state-of-the-art laboratory, ensuring that patients receive the highest quality care and the best possible outcomes.
